A spectacular vintage mid-century Italian Murano glass chandelier, designed by Toni Zuccheri for Venini. Featuring a tiered cascade of 37 thick, textured, and angular glass elements (Tronchi glass) that diffuse a warm, glowing light. Hand-blown in Italy in the late 1960s.
This piece is all entirely original, but completely restored and rewired to NZ standards.
Toni Zuccheri (1936-2008) was one of the most important experimental designers associated with Venini in the 1960s. Originally an architecture student, Zuccheri became particularly interested in the physical possibilities of glass, experimenting extensively with surface, texture, thickness and irregular organic forms.
In 1966 Venini presented Zuccheri’s Tronchi, Ninfee, Scolpiti and Bastoni at the XXXIII Venice Biennale and the Milan Triennale.
The company continues to manufacture some of Zuccheri’s most iconic designs to this day.
